Doug Bird
Founder and Chairman
Doug started in the insurance industry in 1988 with QBE Insurance, where he held a variety of claims and underwriting positions. In 1995 Doug moved to pursue a career in broking, initially with Aon before starting his own broking house Zenith Insurance Brokers. From its formation in 1997, Zenith grew steadily to employ 27 staff and boasted an annual premium turnover of 50 million dollars. In 2017 Doug sold his shareholding in Zenith and formed Resolute Insurance Brokers with Mike Moriarty.
Doug holds a Diploma in Financial Services, is a Qualified Practicing Insurance Broker and a Fellow of the Australian Insurance Institute.
Mike Moriarty
General Manager and Executive Director
Mike joined the insurance industry in 1979 and quickly moved to the engineering division at Lumley where he commenced a lifelong love of Construction Insurance. In the early 80s he joined AIG as a property underwriter and after a few years Mike became the State Underwriting Manager Construction. Working both in New South Wales and Western Australia lead to Mike having strong experience at a national level.
Following nine years at AIG, Mike moved to Switzerland Insurance, before deciding to return to Western Australia. After a further 10 years of underwriting, Mike commenced insurance broking in 2008, working for Zenith Insurance Services where he specialised in Construction and Home Indemnity Insurance. In 2017 Mike formed Resolute Insurance Brokers with Doug Bird.
Mike holds a Certificate of Insurance (NSW TAFE) and is a Senior Associate of the Australian Insurance Institute.
John O’Leary
National Manager-Health and Disability Care
Executive Director
John is a highly experienced and regarded insurance professional with extensive underwriting and broking qualifications. John manages a diverse portfolio of commercial and corporate clients on a national level, providing them with an exceptional level of service, underpinned by thorough risk management advice and claims management support. He also possesses specialist knowledge in relation to care services, including Disability Care, Community Care, Allied Health and Mental Health, and passionately supports organisations, workers and participants in these sectors.
John worked as a Home Loans Manager for NAB in the early 90s, before joining Wesfarmers in 1996 on the same day as Rob Fishwick, where he worked in underwriting. In 2000 he moved into insurance broking, working for Interlink Insurance Brokers for nine years, then Zenith Insurance Service for 13 years. John sold his shareholding in Zenith in 2022 and shortly after, along with Rob Fishwick, joined old colleagues at Resolute Insurance Brokers.
John holds an Advanced Diploma in Financial Services (Broking) and a Diploma in Financial Services (Underwriting) and is a Fellow of the Australian Insurance Institute. He was honoured to be named the 2019 WA Broker of the Year by the National Insurance Brokers Association.
Rob Fishwick
National Manager-Transport and Logistics

In over 30 years in the insurance industry, Rob has literally gone from the bottom to the top as he started his career the mail room at St Paul International in London. Quickly progressing through the organisation to Senior Claims Officer, Rob then moved to Perth in 1995 and joined Wesfarmers on the same day as John O’Leary. Working in Group Risk Management Rob handled all General Insurance claims for the Group’s subsidiary companies such as Bunnings, Kleenheat Gas, CSBP and Wesfarmers Transport.
In 1999 Rob took up a Senior Claims Officer role with HIH, managing a wide range of commercial and domestic claims. In 2003 he was promoted to Team Leader, then in 2006 was appointed Allianz’s WA State Commercial Motor Underwriter. In 2011 Rob was recruited by Zenith Insurance Services, working as a Senior Account Manager, specialising in Road Freight Transport. More recently, along with John O’Leary, Rob joined as a new partner in Resolute Insurance Brokers.
Rob is a Qualified Practicing Insurance Broker and holds a Diploma in Financial Services.
